The right maintenance can transform a space from tired and patchy to a pristine outdoor retreat.
This home in Beecroft is a hedged wonderland featuring two large hills fig archways, walled by a large murraya and camellia hedges with a pathway and garden beds lined by neatly clipped buxus, with roses, topiary and other flowering plants in the centre. This formal style garden shows my horticultural range.
A line of Camellia sasanqua's clipped up precisely to the client's requirements. A Syzygium australe ball hand clipped by shears to create a tight but lively shape. Every garden, no matter the size, deserves care and attention whether by machine or by hand it can be done.
Regular maintenance is carried out in Carlingford, holistically managing the garden to ensure it is always looking its best! This involves rotational maintenance, including: mowing, hand weeding, removing spent flowers, pruning and seasonal works.

A much-loved but declining murraya hedge needed some attention. A program of soil amending and fertilsing was begun after soil and plant health diagnosis, and within months I was able to bring back a severely deficient murraya from bare patches and leaf discolouration to happy and healthy - see Gordon's testimonial and after photos below.
This was a slim garden bed contaminated by concrete leaching, resulting in a highly alkaline soil. I implemented a pH reduction program using sulphur, until the pH was back into an appropriate range and chose a hardy plant species that will become a tall hedge. Post-planting I continue to check the pH and reapply sulphur when needed whilst monitoring any signs of deficiency. Frequent tip pruning and fertilising has improved their health and bushy-ness.
These were outdated garden beds that needed a new topping of mulch to leave them looking clean and finished whilst surpressing weeds and locking in moisture for the plants.

Bespoke garden bed designed for the cool-climate region of the Southern Highlands, NSW. The brief was a formal style garden with a central tree raised above the rest of the garden bed. The plants selected all thrive in cool-climate conditions and produce wonderful floral displays in spring. The install involved corten steel edging, premium mix infill and black-coloured mulch. The vision came to life.
From a neglected corner of the yard to a practical and inviting space for the whole family. This corner garden was once overgrown with weed trees and shrubs so much so that the Sydney water people could not access the detention basin. I underwent two visits to comepletely remove all undesirable species and identify those to keep. Then when I sold the client on the idea of doing a design & install, it was 2 months from this point to a usable garden space that surpassed all their needs. See the growth below:
This was a Ryde TAFE hand-drawn final design project. An Edo-period Japanese-inspired stroll garden. This design was remarked as impressive, and shows my range in hand-drawn designs as well as digital.
